How this works
People overthink joining a running club. There is genuinely nothing to it, and we have designed every part of the club around making the first time easy.
No sign-up form at the gate, no membership card, no email confirming your place. Find the meeting point, look for the red vests, say hello. That is the entire process.
Five pace groups from Walk & Talk to sub-5:00. Nobody asks your time. Pick the one that sounds too easy — you can always move up next week, and most people do.
Every group has a leader at the front and a back marker in a red vest. The back marker never overtakes anyone. That is the whole promise, and we have never broken it.
Pace groups
Five groups go out on every run. Each one has a leader who knows the route and a back marker in a red vest whose only job is to make sure the last person is never the last person on their own.
You do not have to declare a group in advance and nobody will hold you to the one you picked. If it turns out to be too fast, drop back at the first regroup — that is what the regroups are for.
How to pick your groupWalkers, run-walkers and comeback runs.
Conversation pace. Where most people start.
Comfortable but working. Full sentences, not paragraphs.
Honest effort. Three or four words at a time.
Front of the pack. Bring your race legs.
Put these in your diary
The events that fill up, sell out and end up as the photos on the wall of the café.
Find out where your fitness actually is
An honest 10K on a flat course, timed properly, with a clock at the finish and a marshal on every corner. We run it four times a year so you can watch a number move. Everyone starts together, everyone gets a split at 5K, and the last finisher gets the loudest cheer.
Details and sign-upMeet the crew before you run with it
No running. Just eggs, coffee and twenty minutes of us explaining how the club works — pace groups, the crew chat, what to wear in February. If you have been lurking on the website for a month, this is the low-stakes way in.
Details and sign-upThe club's home race
Our race, our roads, our volunteers. A fast riverside half with three drinks stations, club pacers from 1:25 to 2:30, and a finish line inside the park with the whole club shouting. Entry includes a technical tee, a proper medal and a photo you will not hate.
Details and sign-upFrom the crew
I sat in the car park for twenty minutes on my first Thursday before I got out. Someone knocked on the window and asked if I was here for the run. Two years later I do the knocking.

I came for the training and stayed for the fact that eleven people noticed when I stopped coming for a month.

I could not run for one minute in September. I finished the graduation 5K in November with the whole club shouting my name down the last straight.

Club kit
Kit is how a hundred strangers on a start line become one club. Every item is priced to cover its cost plus a bit for the junior section — nobody is making money here.
An account takes thirty seconds, saves your pace group, and means we know how many people to expect at the gate. You can also just turn up — that has always been fine.
